“Carriage House”

Liberty Lake, Wa.

Does a detached shop building have to be ugly? This attractive building is a testament to the fact that the answer to that question is definitely NO.

This 20 X 30 building is situated just south-west of Liberty Lake adjacent to a wonderfully detailed modern Victorian Style home. Instead of building the typical (and rather ugly) pole structures that are springing up all over, these owners wanted something that was attractive and accented their Victorian home instead of detract from it.

The design of this building is not intended to copy or mimic the home it sits adjacent to but rather appear to be it’s Carriage House or Barn structure. In keeping with this concept, the siding of the Carriage House is more simple and a bit more rustic in feel with splashes of trim details copied from the main house, helping to tie the two structures together as close cousins of one another.

While this building was not an inexpensive structure to build, it reflects the owner’s wishes to “do it right” and go the extra mile in having created a timeless structure that will age gracefully along with the main house and be a beautiful addition to the neighborhood for generations to come.
